What is the optimal humidity in the house
Let's start with the beginning: air humidity represents the amount of water vapor in the air and will be influenced by the temperature difference between inside and outside. For example, in winter, when the outside temperature is much lower than the inside, you can face the increased humidity. On the other hand, water vapor makes its presence felt in the home and after activities such as drying clothes, ironing them, taking showers or even cooking. If you don't ventilate properly, the drops of water reach your and your family's lungs.
If the humidity in a home is too low or too high, over time, residents will experience various health problems, for example allergies and/or asthma, skin rashes/eczema or red eyes, not to mention discomfort and possible irritations of the respiratory tract.
Of course, it would be advisable to purchase a device that can indicate the level of humidity, for example a hygrometer or a hygrometer. In addition, there are thermometers that can measure humidity. If you don't have such a device, you can orient yourself by the following signs:
- Low humidity: dry skin, itching of the nose and eyes, permanent thirst, dryness of the nose, mouth and throat;
- Increased humidity: moisture, condensation on the windows, damaged ceiling and walls, mold or the presence of the status smell.
And yet, what is the optimal humidity in the room? Our advice is to take into account the external values first. Therefore, adjust the humidity according to the following values:
- Outside temperature higher than 20 degrees Celsius, indoor humidity is not recommended to exceed 60%;
- The outside temperature is between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius, the humidity inside is not recommended to exceed 50%;
- The outside temperature is between 0 and 10 degrees Celsius, the humidity inside is not recommended to exceed 45%;
The situation changes when we talk about newborns. What is the optimal humidity for babies? Always below 60% to eliminate the risk of allergic reactions, respiratory problems or the appearance of mold. On the other hand, the humidity level cannot even drop below 30%.
Excess humidity, i.e. a maximum of 80%, is only accepted if there is a premature baby in the room.
Take into account all these aspects when you think about how to arrange the child's room .
