How do you start cleaning your house? With a serious decluttering session! In order to make the actual cleaning process easier, it would be good to start by tidying things up in the house. In addition to those that always remain "at hand" on the coffee table, kitchen counter, etc., we recommend that you make a little order through the cabinets and reorganize the storage spaces. The goal? Ventilated space and used more efficiently.

Divide things into three categories: what you still use, what to throw away (expired products or things that can't be repaired, for example) and what can be donated. You can start by sorting the wardrobe and you can continue with the shelves in the bathroom, pantry, kitchen, depending on how many rooms the apartment has .

Try to store as smartly as possible even the smallest and most frequently used things. Do not leave them in sight, because it creates the impression of congestion, disorder and, last but not least, you get tired - the human brain likes order.

The watchwords are "baskets" and "boxes". In fact, any type of container that can be used for storage and that has a pleasant appearance. They are very useful for keeping chargers and cables of all kinds - otherwise unsightly -, utensils, cosmetics, beds and pillows, cleaning products, toys, magazines or anything that does not find its place in a drawer.

This sorting process ensures an orderly air in the room and, in addition, helps you to have fewer objects to move and pick up when cleaning. Equally useful are the accessories for interior partitioning of furniture: dividers, supports, hanging hooks. Even if these spaces are not visible, it is good to keep order in them as well.

So, to do a quick and efficient cleaning, you will need to follow a few basic steps. Without further ado, here are the cleaning steps:

  • Treat the bathroom and kitchen separately

There are demanding rooms, which involve specific operations: washing and disinfecting sanitary ware, cleaning appliances, wiping ceramic tiles and other special surfaces.

  • Apply the principle of "up and down" in the living room, bedroom, hallways

It starts with shaking textiles, dusting, cleaning furniture and decorations on it. The dust will settle on the floor, so I advise you to leave the vacuuming and washing the floors at the end. We hope you have already read about the 6 tips for living room design .

  • Do the same operation in all rooms

Wipe the dust in the bedroom, then go to the living room. Same with the other operations: when you get to the vacuum cleaner, vacuum the whole house. You will notice that you finish cleaning much faster than you initially thought.

  • Before starting any cleaning process it is necessary to make sure that you have at hand all the necessary household products and the right tools for each surface;
  • Always wear latex gloves when cleaning. These will help you protect your hands, especially if you also use strong cleaning substances;
  • Always apply the baking product on a cloth, not directly on the surface you want to clean;
  • If it rains, there is no point in washing the windows. Postpone the operation until after it has rained;
  • Close the bathroom door and window and let the hot water run in the tub when cleaning the bathroom. The steam is useful because it softens the marks left on the floor and walls and thus you will clean the tiles more easily;
  • Make sure that the cleaning products are suitable for the surfaces in the house;
  • After you finish the job, don't forget to sanitize the objects used in the cleaning process;
  • Do not use the same mop for all surfaces in the house. A separate mop is recommended for the bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom;
  • Bath sponges and dish sponges, but also toothbrushes are kept in places as protected from moisture and where they can dry quickly;
  • Always use different cloths or sponges for bathroom or kitchen surfaces and for various pieces of furniture;
  • Be sure to frequently replace items that you use for cleaning. This prevents the development of mold and / or bacteria;
  • Shake off dust and frequently wash textiles, such as carpets, draperies, curtains, beds, chair cushions or decorative pillows.

There are a few small things that, done regularly, will make the seasonal cleaning sessions much shorter:

  • After each meal, take 2 minutes to wipe off dirty surfaces - this way, you won't be rubbing a piece of hardened grease for minutes on end for a week (for example);
  • Soak the dishes in which you cooked - and don't forget to put the used oil in a special container, which you then take to a food oil collection center;
  • Sweep the kitchen floor at the end of each day - definitely dropped something on the floor, an onion peel or a little rice. Sweep that part of the floor that serves the cooking / dining area;
  • Wipe the hob / stove with a damp cloth (or soaked in detergent) after using it - it takes less than you think.

Perhaps the most important aspect of this activity is that it does not have to be done by one person. Determine with your family / roommates when you will be cleaning and who is doing what. You can make a list of activities that need to be done and everyone can choose what they want to do.
